RYC writer, Thom Shepard, received Trop Rock Music Association’s award for “Radio Show of the Year”. This award was Shepard’s first TRMA award and recognized him for his show, “Live From the Redneck Yacht Club”. The Trop Rock Music Awards, established in 2007, are put on “to formally recognize the hard work, promotion and preservation of Trop Rock Music by the artists, songwriters, radio, events and live music venues through whom the genre continues to evolve” (Trop Rock Music Association).A huge honor for Thom, this award was voted on by members of the Trop Rock Music Association, consisting of music industry professionals and trop rock fans from all over the United States.

This year’s awards were held at the Casa Marina Waldorf Hotel in Key West during the 24th Annual Meeting of the Minds Festival.  MOTM is an annual festival put on to celebrate Jimmy Buffett’s fans, the Parrotheads. Every year, Parrothead Clubs from across the USA and Canada join together for a week of concerts and fun. This year, Jimmy made a rare concert appearance to join in on the celebrations.
